Album: Caytra – Caytra

Who could have thought that what initially started as a basement jam would become a confluence of melodic angularity and entrancing rhythmic mechanics? Yes, Caytra‘s debut self-titled, self-produced EP is here, and there is just one way to describe it – EPIC!

They’re a “new face” in the music industry, but their music speaks for itself. Caytra’s upbeat debut project showcasing a fluid blend of hip-hop, funk, jazz, and rock is a breath of fresh air and a testament to the young artists’ musical prowess. Their willingness to push limits with experimentation makes their first offering stand out.

The self-titled EP contains five tracks, all bursting with an air of unpredictability, from the driving four to the floor groove of ‘You Lost’ to the intricate patchwork of rhythms and grooves on The OG’. This is a band on a quest to push the boundaries of jazz music.

The trio don’t shy away from taking inspiration from the likes of Herbie Hancock, Yussef Kamaal, Tom Misch, Chris Dave, and Ghostnote. Modern music’s language changes constantly, and its evolution is fast-paced and unrestrained. Where jazz attitudes meet new sounds and aesthetics, Caytra stands at the crossroads of past and present. They are everything that one looks for in quality music.

With this debut EP, the buzzing trio has signified that they’re here to stay. Undoubtedly, they are among the most talented newcomers, and we cannot wait to see what they come up with next.
