We’ve got the first play of the latest Caytra track, ‘Cords’. Following up on their previous single, ‘You Lost’. As a tribute to the trio’s core influences, the latest offering contains subtle nods to J-Dilla (those sirens!) via a performance reminiscent of collectives Ghost-Note and Chris Dave and The Drumhedz.

Produced by guitarist Sam Ithell, ‘Cords’ takes you on a rollercoaster of slick instrumentation, production and tempos; as he skillfully augments samples of their live performance in a way that still encapsulates the live spirit of Caytra. The track’s deep bassline provides a solid soundbed for moments of shimmering guitar chords and crisp drum work.

With its roots in a basement jam between Ithell and drummer James Gullis, the group is an expression of the uniqueness and symbiosis of each member, featuring a blend of hip-hop, funk, jazz, and rock.

The trio are planning on releasing their debut EP soon, so there is more music to come from these three – stay tuned!
