Today we’ve got the premiere of the vibrant and intoxicating new track ‘Wild Birds’ from Bucharest jazz outfit 7th SENSE.
‘Wild Birds’ is a sparkling modern jazz track that moves between different moods and tempos. Each member experiments with their instrument and provides unique moments throughout the song, whether it’s Sergiu Bivol upbeat trumpet tones, Lucas Contreras’s smooth guitar lines, or Laura Benedek’s deep bass grooves. All of which are encased in Will Fry’s uplifting and swaggering percussive charge. It’s a unique and exciting sound that draws you in from the start until the end. We raved about the band’s debut, ‘Almost Five,’ and we could argue that this is even better.

” ‘Wild Birds’ is the first song that we composed together and instantly caught people’s attention. It still is one of the favourites from our playlist and the song that the audience connects the most with. At first, we had a sketch of the song with lyrics and featured vocals, but after opening the 11th edition of the Green Hours Jazz Fest in Bucharest, we decided to change it into an instrumental because we loved the vibe it was projecting. The main inspiration for this one goes back to when I was listening and immersing myself in the tunes of Ezra Collective, Kokoroko and Sons of Kemet. With that in mind, my aim was to bring that kind of energy into our own song, thinking about how we could connect and interact with the audience. We then finished composing the main theme of the song, which also happened to be the only missing element. Simple, yet strong. It’s been a joy to watch the song grow and evolve throughout the years.” Laura Benedek
