New Sounds: Danalogue x Alabaster dePlume – Gull Communication

Danalogue blew us away a few months ago with his collaborative EP with Sarathy Korwar, and he’s back with his latest adventure but this time teaming up with Alabaster dePlume.

The pair come together for the first time on their debut album ‘I Was Not Sleeping’ which lands on November 20th, via their spiritual home Total Refreshment Centre Records.

‘I Was Not Sleeping’ as the press release explains,“seeks to find utopia amidst a real-world reality of austerity, divisional politics and a UK lurching towards the right wing. The title of the record addresses this explicitly.”

Fans of the site will know Danalogue for his work with Mercury-nominated The Comet Is Coming, as well as recent records by Soccer96, Bo Ningen, Flamingods, Lunch Money Life and Vels Trio.

Similarly, spoken-word artist, writer and saxophonist Alabaster dePlume (aka Angus Fairbairn) has featured heavily on TS in recent times with his album To Cy & Lee: Instrumentals, Vol. 1.’ and his ‘Visit Croatia’ EP.

The album is preceded by lead track’ Gull Communication, which you can stream below.

The duo creates a wonderful mix of dynamic and textured soundscapes that draws you in with it’s dense, hip-hop beats and lo-fi wonky electronics.

It’s an exciting new sound, and we’re eager to hear more!

I Was Not Sleeping’ is out November 20th, via Total Refreshment Centre Records – buy from Bandcamp.
