KOMA – JOHN COLTRANE (TS Premiere)

We’re excited to exclusively premiere ‘JOHN COLTRANE’, a striking new interpretation of the Bill Lee composition made famous by Clifford Jordan.

Recorded by the KOMA quartet, who consists of Keïta Janota (alto saxophone), Ornella Noulet (tenor saxophone), Martin Blouet (vibraphone) and Anthony Jouravsky (double bass).

The track appears on their debut album, SPIRITS, which lands September 18th. There’s a raw immediacy to this version, a sense of the quartet stepping into the tune’s lineage while carving out their own space inside it.

What makes the project even more exciting is the process behind it. SPIRITS was captured entirely in analog, in a single uninterrupted take, with no edits or post‑session polish. It’s a beautiful album, and on tracks like ‘INNER MEETING‘ and ‘SPIRITS I & II’ you really feel the four of them in a room, breathing the music in real time.

The album marks the second instalment in KOMOSAnalog Home Session series, following the beautiful Soul Song from Hermon Mehari & Tony Tixier, which we previewed last year. This new chapter pushes the series deeper into that warm, lived‑in territory where tape, touch, and intuition meet.

For a taste of what’s to come, listen to the entrancing ‘JOHN COLTRANE’ below.
