Serene and fragile ambient folk soundscapes mark the opening tracks of the upcoming debut from audiovisual artists Love Is Yes. The duo of Sander van der Toorn and Dax Niesten throw you into a mellow and beautiful mood on ‘What You See’ and ‘Somewhere Nowhere’, two intriguing tracks that possess a heartfelt warmth yet simultaneously bear a hint of futuristic sparseness.Â
When it comes to their music, the duo draws inspiration from a wide range of sources, including folk singer Vashti Bunyan and the late composer Morton Feldman. The visual work of Niesten brings to mind the artistic styles of Philip Guston and Maurice Sendak – with its crestfallen, comic-like emptiness and charmingly odd peculiarity.

Creatures drawn with peaceful complexity come to life charmingly on large canvases. These somewhat sentimental characters then leap off the page through a feature-length animation, which you can enjoy while listening to the record.
‘Love Is Yes’ will be released on 8th March via Kit Records.
