Once upon a time, the idea of bunching hip-hop, ambient, tropical, drone, pop and folk music on the same album would have been unimaginable. But sonic adventurer and prolific outsider artist Andrew G. Thomson, a.k.a. AyGeeTee, has happily defied the norms since his first foray into making music back in 2008/9.

In collaboration with the ever-curious Kit Records, he unveils ‘Above You’, an album that glimpses into his vast archive filled with previously unreleased pieces, demonstrating his unparalleled audial syntax.

From the repurposed instrumental fragments of ‘Today’s W’, to the mantric pop irreverence of ‘Troubled Dinghy’, and the burnished orbits of guitar on ‘Sweetness One’, each composition transcends genre expectations and reveals hidden intricacies on repeat listens.

A little of something for everyone, AyGeeTee’s eclectic mix is a musical adventure that can’t be pigeonholed into just one category.
