Brooklyn cellist and composer MIZU has recently announced the follow-up to her 2023 debut album Distant Intervals. The upcoming album is called Forest Scenes, and it finds MIZU stepping even further away from the classical idioms in which she was reared. Infusing a charismatic blend of beautiful, longing cello strains, pulsating electronic sounds, and hyperreal field recordings, MIZU has skilfully crafted an album that is both rich and utterly engaging.

Forest Scenes, the press release explains, “is in no small way an acknowledgement of transcendent experiences and the thrills of self-discovery, whether in the vast urbanity of São Paulo, in the community among New York City’s queer spaces and dancefloors, or in the more abstract place of a self in transition.”

MIZU has shared a lush and moving new track. Titled ‘Pump’, it is the second song to be revealed from the forthcoming album, following on from lead track ‘Pavane’. Listen to it now and watch out for the release of Forest Scenes on 22nd March via NNA Tapes.
