Just like their 2021 album, “Alors Quoi,” Meril Wubslin ventured into new sonic territory, exploring sounds that were far from what they had done before. As musical explorers, they continue to evolve and move into new musical pathways. On their upcoming fourth album, Faire Ça, the Swiss trio travelled to London to record the album with Kwake Bass in his studio The Room.
If you’re into the intimate vibes of blues and folk, the experimental nature of post-rock and 1960s minimalism, and the captivating production values of dub and hip-hop, then you’ll absolutely love their new album.
“What unites us,” the band said, “is curiosity and the desire to seek and explore. If we continue to make albums and perform, there will always be evolution. Taking risks – that’s what interests us.”
In a world where conformity often prevails, it’s refreshing to see artists like Meril Wubslin fearlessly carving their own path. Ahead of the album’s release via the always brilliant Bongo Joe Records, lead single ‘Un Calme’ provides a window into their evolution as they continue to break barriers, and defy expectations.
On Faire Ça, the three members of Meril Wubslin create a subtly powerful, idiosyncratic sound that can be wistful and romantic, or jolting and abrasive – often simultaneously.
