A new, sweeping track from Bex Burch. Someone we first heard from in 2015 with her band Vula Viel. Sporting a subtle and very mellow avant-garde jazz sound. ‘Dawn blessings’ is the beautiful lead song from her debut solo album, There is only love and fear. It is set for release on October 20th via International Anthem. ‘Dawn blessings’ is an uplifting track laden with soothing strings, hypnotic flute notes, plus rhythmic bass and drums. Starting with the sound of a cuckoo on the sprawling Baltic coastline, it’s all held together by Burch’s delicate notes on her hand-made xylophone. The accompanying music video was directed by Louise Boer and features a stunning array of nature shots, creating a stunning visual accompaniment to this song.
Boer says of her accompanying video piece: “The music video for ‘dawn blessings’ is a meditation on the joy and subtle magic that can be found during a slow and solitary walk through landscapes of sand, stones and pine trees; sometimes wild, sometimes heavily damaged and disturbed, but always full of life. It’s a hypnotic exploration of human and more-than-human entanglements in which the body dissolves into the environment and the invisible slowly becomes visible. Filmed during walks in Beerze (NL), Kennemerduinen (NL), Gaujas Ieteka Jūrā (LV).
