While we recover from Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival, today we have the magical healing sound of muva of Earth, a South East London-based West African singer-songwriter and harpist whose new single ‘heaven hear me above’ has been playing nonstop at Twistedsoul HQ.

One of the highlights of the festival was Muva of Earth’s enchanting performance at the Théâtre de la Mer Sète. A fitting setting, if ever there was one, with the huge amphitheatre bathed in the moon’s light and its reflections on the water.
Listening to her music is a transcendent and deeply moving experience. On ‘heaven hear me above’, she creates an atmosphere of healing and joy with her perfectly plucked harp strings, delicate keys, powerful voice, and emotive lyrics.
When describing her music to the Guardian, she explained: “I’m calling it Afropunk jazz, an expression of my truth as a woman of African descent, with jazz inflections. i’m excited to share my vulnerability with the world and to finally start my life as an artist.”
align with Nature’s Intelligence; her debut EP is out on 8th September via Brownswood Recordings.
