Guest Playlist: Healing Force Project

You need Antonio Marini in your life if you love artists whose music touches on everything from dub to freeform jazz to jungle, and electronica, often on the same tack.

The ever-evolving producer, aka Healing Force Project, will return with a new album on March 17th. Building on the genre-jumping genius of last year’s Drifted Entities Vol 1, Marini carries on the quest for unconventional sounds he has pursued for years in Vol 2.

A master of experimentation and exploration, Marini takes you on a trip again to remote sonic places that flit between disparate genres with formidable fluidity. While Vol. 1 had a dubwise expanse between the primordial space grooves, in Vol. 2, Marini jettisons the former’s amorphous flow, upping the tempo and intensity in an abstract yet funky style. Spring-heeled basslines, thunderous beats, deep soundscapes and intriguing grooves abound on this album.

We’ll be premiering a track from the album in the coming weeks. In the meantime, Marini has given us a selection of musical inspirations to get us started. These include tunes from Miles Davis, Coldcut, Can, David Axelrod, Weather Report, Young Jazz Rebels, Photek and more.
