Alice Coltrane meets ambient music on forthcoming Greg Dallas & Jan Esbra, Confluence

With her highly anticipated collaborative album Confluence set for release on November 17th via The Slow Music Movement, last week, Colombian Jan Esbra and American Greg Dallas shared the first sample, ‘May Rain’. It’s a riveting appetizer accompanied by a visual created by Dallas and Jim Z McGowin. Restrained and delicate guitars afloat among a sea of twinkling synths and wailing drones to create an atmospheric mix.

According to the press release, this album is one in which “sonic density sits comfortably next to barely tangible musical meditations and jazz teams up with electronica to push the boundaries of ambient music.”

The album contains 13 tracks, all improvised and produced by Dallas and Esbra. If you love Tim Hecker, Mary Lattimore, and Alice Coltrane, lend your ears.

Lovely stuff here.

The album is certainly a communal triumph and a welcome antidote to today’s fast-paced and increasingly divided world.
