Those who have never heard of Monzanto Sound should wake up; you’ve been sleeping. They dropped their debut EP back in 2020, and we politely suggest you take a listen for yourself here.

Monzanto Sound consists of Mimi Koku (vocals), Anthony Boatright (bass guitar), Mali Baden-Powell (keyboards, synths) and Wazoo Baden-Powell (drums, percussion, guitar overdubs).

A refrained and groovy neo-soul track, ‘Nuff Blues’ takes intricate and inventive musicianship with a psychedelic edge and layers them alongside Koku’s delicate buttery vocals. A production free of inane hooks sets everything off. The track is taken from their upcoming EP ‘Tomorrow, Tomorrow and Tomorrow’.

Of the track, Koku says, “I envision a scorned lover, torn between love, pain and rage, reflecting melancholically on an unfortunate situation where they surrendered and lost themselves completely for the one they love.”

Their new EP ‘Tomorrow, Tomorrow and Tomorrow’ is due in Autumn via None More Records.
