Manchester-based imprint Gondwana Records has been showcasing emerging talent since 2008. Initially focusing on local talent, Matthew Halsall’s label has expanded far and wide through its releases in recent years. Following Jasmine Myra’s ‘New Beginnings’, Gondwana presents us with Danish duo Svaneborg Kardyb, the newest member of its family.

Located in Aalborg, Nikolaj Svaneborg (Wurlitzer, Juno, piano) and Jonas Kardyb (drums, percussion) represent a generation of artists at the forefront of Nordic jazz music.

On their debut album ‘Knob’, the duo oriented their influences in a beautifully melodic way, fusing electronic sounds and acoustic grooves with catchy melodies and Nordic atmospheres.

Hear their first release for the label, the dynamic, futuristic space tune ‘Orbit.’ It features an insistent Wurlitzer theme and a heavy repetitive beat.

This track demonstrates Gondwana’s commitment to defying conventional boundaries and is an excellent addition to an already impressive catalogue.

“For our band we’ve only had one dream label – true story. Their tenacity in pursuing the gaps between genres strongly appeals to us. Their vision is very clear and we are very fortunate to work with an independent label that really stands out. After working together on the new music for several months, we have found that the guys are really sweet human beings as well – how lucky can one be.”
