We’re a little late sharing this one, but it’s way too good not to share with you all! Get acquainted with Danish duo Svaneborg Kardyb and their debut album ‘Knob’.
Quitely released in March 2019 their 6-track LP quickly became a favourite on the Danish national radio channel DR P8 JAZZ as well as securing them two awards at the Danish Music Awards 2019 as Danish Jazz Composer of the Year and New Danish Jazz Name of the Year.
Svaneborg Kardyb is the duo of Nikolaj Svaneborg (Wurlitzer, Juno, Piano) and Jonas Kardyb (Drums, Percussion).
Knob showcases what Svaneborg Kardyb is all about pairing electronic vibes, and acoustic grooves, with catchy melodies and Nordic atmospherics. Every track offers something new and refreshing.
There is a calmness present throughout the record as heard on tracks like ‘Tønder’, and ‘Paladas’, but this doesn’t stop the pair from dipping their toes into more uptempo waters on ‘Vandre’ and the title track.
The rich piano progression and subtle percussion on our favourite cut ‘Svalen’ are just a joy to the ears. It’s one of those tracks that you’ll have on repeat again and again (and again)! ‘Et Lite Øyeblikk Bare’ is uplifting, featuring the soothing vocals of Eline Hellerud Åsbakk who adds a new dimension to their minimalistic and primarily instrumental sound.
Without further ado, hit play and take a deep dive into their utterly immersive soundscapes below. Fans of Bremer/McCoy and Hvalfugl will lap this one up! Buy here.
