Berlin-based singer/producer Olivier St. Louis is back! After having released the awe-inspiring track ‘Confliction’ featuring Oddisee in July, he returns with his latest gem entitled ‘Jump The Line’.
We haven’t shared his music for quite some. But if you remember how good his 2017 ‘Ever Since The Fall‘ EP sounded then you know, you’re in for an ear-pleasing treat. So today is a special day because we’re excited to exclusively premiere ‘Jump The Line’ a cut lifted from his new EP ‘M.O.T.H (Matters Of The Heartless)’ which is scheduled for release via First Word Records in January.
If you’re into soul with subtle jazz and boom bap touches with a rock edge, you’re going to love this track. Produced by longtime collaborator Oddisee, enjoy a slice of midtempo alt-soul that is sure to get your feet tapping and put a big smile on your faces.
All together, the track is everything you’d expect from Olivier St Louis; the perfect balance between soul and rock with relatable lyrics, sophisticated instrumentation and heavenly vocals.
When asked his thoughts on his artistry, Olivier St. Louis simply states “no punches pulled, no compromises, just me”.
This EP is essentially a classically-structured selection of soul-funk with a rock edge, and a touch of jazz. Each track is laced with Olivier’s sweet harmonies and fuzzed-out guitar licks throughout, and mixed down with a little 2020 boom bap thump. A prime example of Olivier’s unique talents and a set of quality contemporary alt-soul.
