Los Angeles-based guitarist and composer Jeff Parker resurfaced yesterday after a nineteen-month silence with ‘Max Brown’, a dazzling return from the talented veteran.
The 7” single evloves over two parts and is the first glimpse from his upcoming full-length album Suite for Max Brown set for release in January 2020 via International Anthem and Nonesuch Records.
Parker produced the new single alongside Paul Bryan, who also plays bass. Also on the track are Josh Johnson (known for work with Kiefer, Leon Bridges) on alto sax, Nate Walcott (Bright Eyes, M. Ward) on trumpet, and Jamire Williams (Moses Sumney, Solange) on drums.
‘Max Brown’ follows his critically acclaimed 2016 International Anthem LP The New Breed.
Opening with Parker’s mellow but warm guitar lines it’s a subtle start with The New Breed entering proceedings moments later as more layers of instrumentation are added into the mix, gradually intensifying with each passing second.
As expected, it’s a divine composition that was well worth the wait – listen below.
