Next up on the mighty Rhythm Section is a new duo who go by the name of Saul.

The newly formed duo is composed of Barney Whittaker aka Footshooter and Jack Stephenson-Oliver who’ll you know as one-third of Vels Trio and from his productions for Poppy Ajudha and Charlotte Dos Santos.

Having wowed the crowds at Brainchild last year the pair along with frequent collaborators Brother Portrait (Steam Down) and Poppy Ajudha have just released their debut EP Murmurations.

Over six tracks the EP simmers with a potent UK energy; paying homage to the sounds of garage, jungle and broken beat all in the context of the new wave of London Jazz – of which all members of this project are vital players.

Today, we’re sharing ‘Earth Rain’ which features Ajudha. Combining Stephenson-Oliver’s darting keys, coupled with Whittaker laying down some fizzing broken beat rhythms that leave plenty of space for Ajudha’s voice to shine as bright as ever.
