Abstractions of Reality Past and Incredible Feathers marks Binker Golding’s first solo LP released with Gearbox Records, following three collaborative albums with Moses Boyd on the label.

Drawing creativity from the jazz fusion of the 80s and 90s the album features the stellar talents of Joe Armon-Jones on piano, Daniel Casimir on double bass, and Sam Jones on drums.

Golding explains the inspiration behind the compositions:

“The album is about experiences I had throughout my teenage years & twenties. Its about remembering, forgetting, thinking you’ve forgotten & remembering again. It’s about people & friends that you’ll never see again & times that you can’t go back to, so you have to settle for the memory of them instead, whilst holding on to some hope for the future”.

The 11-track project follows the release of his live improvisation album with Elliot Galvin, recorded at the Vortex jazz club and released on Byrd Out earlier this year.

Sound-tracked by some celestial and vibrant instrumentation the lead track called You, That Place, That Time is an absolute gem. Needless to say that we can’t wait to hear the rest of the album.

Abstractions of Reality Past and Incredible Feathers is released via Gearbox Records on 27th September. Head here to find out more, check out the artwork and tracklist below.
