Park Jiha set to release Philos on vinyl

Late last year South Korean musician Park Jiha digitally released her second album Philos. Next month the LP will be released on vinyl through tak:til/ Glitterbeat.

Philos followed her well-received debut album Communion – unlike her first collection which featured guest musicians, Jiha plays all the instruments on Philos herself, including the piri (a double reed flute), saenghwang (mouth organ) and yanggeum (hammered dulcimer).

The eight-track album is “an evocation of her love for time, space and sound” explains Jiha.

“When I am working on music, I put a lot focus on what I am doing,” she continues. “I think in the end that is love. Philos is about the process of intense repetition. That is a very powerful love, especially on this album, where I worked on all the tracks by myself.”

Philos is released on June 14th. Watch the video for album opener ‘Arrival’ above.
