Album: Culross Close – Forgotten Ones

Culross Close - Forgotten Ones EP.

Following his 2016 debut Home, and last year’s 7inch Moments the hugely talented London-based producer, remixer, and DJ Kieron Ifill aka KI5 return to his Esencia imprint for a new EP, called Forgotten Ones.

Working under the moniker of Culross Close and much like the recent Robert Stillman LP, the gifted Ifill creates the illusion of a multiplayer ensemble, when in fact he plays bass, keys, drums, synths and percussion on this mesmerising record.

Based on the concept of how easy or difficult it can be for someone to accept themselves, Ifill gently guides us through 6 tracks that coasts from spiritual jazz to celestial electronics, via mellow RnB grooves, onto lo-fi hip-hop and beyond.

“Much of the way in which the world operates today, at a human level, concerns exploitation, using another’s vulnerability for one’s own benefit, an idea so commonplace we only recognise its ill in the extremes. From reflection to acceptance, to hope, Forgotten Ones delves into the contradictions of accepting the status quo while identifying its shortcomings” Culross Close

Just like the rest of his work, this offering is absolutely stellar and worthy of your time. Another excellent release from Ifill with deeply beautiful music throughout.

The Forgotten Ones EP is out now via Esencia. Buy from Juno or Bandcamp.
