Ishmael Ensemble and Yazz Ahmed team up for limited 7″ release

Two of our favourite artist Ishmael Ensemble and Yazz Ahmed have joined forces for a new collaborative record, entitled ‘The River’.

Exciting news! Two of our favourite artist Ishmael Ensemble and Yazz Ahmed have joined forces for a new collaborative record, entitled ‘The River’, which will drop on February 15th.

The Bristol-based collective led by saxophonist and producer Pete Cunningham bring their Bristol-inspired ‘Severn Songs’ project to a close with this two-track release featuring trumpet and flugelhorn player Yazz Ahmed.

As a whole, the ‘Severn Songs’ project has seen Cunningham develop an already diverse palette into something more focused. Tiptoeing between the current British jazz boom and Bristol’s rich musical ancestry, the group have found a truly unique and refreshing voice.

Our first taste from the forthcoming record comes in the form of ‘The River’ (Reprise). A gentle ride that marries bass clarinet, alto-flute and the sarod – leaving the listener just a few strings shy of a full orchestral experience.

Press play and lose yourself to the dreamy melodies and hypnotic instrumentation below!
