London-based Lithuanian drummer and producer, Marijus Aleksa is set to share MAPS his first solo project to date.

We’re told that the EP is the culmination of “many hours spent touring and in-session with some of the greats of London’s bubbling contemporary jazz scene”.

The five-song EP combines elements of jazz, afrobeat and electronic music through free-form jamming and remixing, with movement and the dance floor firmly in mind.

Lifting off with the sublime ‘Time Blur’ an expertly arranged number which grows and grows over the course of its eight-minute duration.

Opening with a highly percussive groove that slowly unfolds and carries along an assortment of instrumentation that takes you through a mellifluous soundscapes laced with musical bursts of genius.

The way Aleksa slowly builds up the track with subtle, understated touches is simply wonderful and refreshing.
