Acquaint yourself with Chris Edmondson a Montreal-based saxophonist, composer, and producer working under the guise of  ‘Christopher J‘.

We only came across the talented jazz musicians work yesterday via an email from his label Unlimited Refills but were instantly drawn towards his organic, soul-inspired compositions.

Dense vocal harmonies, electronic textures, warm basses, and sizzling saxophone melodies are all staples of his music.

Led by Edmondson’s masterful alto sax, he leaves space for band members Eric Maillet (drums), Chris Colton (piano), Ethan Cohn (bass), David Osei-Afrifa (synths) Scott Bevins (trumpet), Evan MacDonald (guitar), and Chris Vincent (trombone) to let fly and weave their magic.

With so many enticing layers of ethereal sound, ‘Hymn To Whatever’ is a beautiful piece of hypnotic music that surprises in so many ways. Quality jazz, made with soul.
