London label Astigmatic Records next vinyl release is the ‘Trip to Warsaw’ EP by New Zealand producer/DJ Surly.
Initially released digitally by Polish Juke early last year the remastered vinyl edition will exclusively feature a new intro and another brand new tune.
The album, says the press release comes “deeply rooted in jazz aesthetics and harmonics, offers an unparalleled experimental, avant-garde sound, rich in its mix and in numerous textures hidden in the colourable calmness of all the tracks”. The six-track release combines many different musical textures from strictly jazz-oriented compositions ‘Thirteen’, ‘4Q 510-511’, ‘Train to Lodz’ to the more hip-hop and R&B influenced cuts ‘Scare Em to Death’, ‘Wait Till the Sick Comes’.
Always varied and always intriguing ‘Trip to Warsaw‘ sees Surly take footwork in an altogether different direction and I for one can’t wait to hear what he has next up his sleeve.
For those who like it experimental and off-centre – this project is a treat.
