Banana Hill set to share their first release

Majid Bekkas

Manchester-based label and club night Banana Hill present their first official release! Taking influence from around the globe, they kick off in Morocco, with multi-instrumentalist Majid Bekkas reimagined for the dancefloor by label co-founder Cervo. The two tracks featured on the 12″ are taken from the stunning 2001 album “African Gnaoua Blues,” one side features the 8-minute groove workout “Soudani Manayou,” a perfect fusion of Gnawa guitar and afro-jazz sensibilities. On the other side, a club-ready version of “Mrhaba” leaves the original spirit intact but brings a definitive peak-time bounce, complete with a whirling flute breakdown. Listen to “Mrhaba” which sets us up nicely for the 12″ released on May 14th.

Soundani Manayou / Mrhaba (Cervo Edits) is out on May 14th via Banna Hill – pre-order from Juno or  Bandcamp.
