Melbourne’s Crown Ruler reissue three rare tracks from South African duo Focus

Zulu EP

Melbourne based music agency/record store Crown Ruler get off to a flying start with their first label release. Reissued for the first time on vinyl three rare tracks by South African studio outfit Focus. The sought-after release brings the slow burning dancefloor energy of 1980s South Africa back into sharp focus. The group consisting of Sello Mmutung and Keith Hutchinson recorded the original six track album Zulu Disco in Johannesburg circa 1983 right on the cusp of boogie and proto-house music. Kicking off with the dancefloor workout of Hay-Hay then moving to the deep Afrocentric groove of Rock Batlanga before closing with thmid-tempo, synth funk of Moger. Essential reissue!

1. Hay-Hay
2. Rock Batlanga
3. Moger

Zulu EP is out now via Crown Ruler – buy from Juno or Boomkat.
