There’s a special magic when generations meet in the studio, and BELEZA captures that spark with grace. London-based Brazilian guitarist and producer Muca joins Roberto Menescal, one of bossa nova’s architects, for a collaborative album.

The record features many musicians and lyricists, including 12 female singers (one per track). The album is split evenly between Portuguese and English songs and lyrics.

“Women have played an integral role in bossa nova’s critical and commercial success. I wanted to keep this legacy alive by working with female singers and shining a light on women, who, as we all know, are still largely underrepresented in the music industry”– Muca

Over the past few months, they have been slowly revealing tracks from the album. So far, we’ve heard songs featuring anaiis, Mirella Costa, SAHRA, and Josyara.

Today, we’re premiering the next glimpse. Midnight Lullaby is a dream for British-Brazilian singer-songwriter, Liana Flores, who brings together bossa nova, indie and folk into a cinematic masterpiece. Her soft voice deftly brushes the velvety strings in this gentle love song, with Muca’s surf guitar solo foreshadowing the waves of Flores’ vocals into a state of bliss.
