Sheldon Agwu is set to self-release his debut LP, Kintsugi, next month. Agwu has already unveiled the title track to provide a teaser for what’s coming.
Some may recall that we featured the talented London-based music producer, guitarist, and multi-instrumentalist on the site a few years ago. Almost all the tracks on his debut are composed and performed by Agwu, except for ‘Meditation Ribbon Dance’, which was co-written with Ylenia Tilli, and ‘This Infinite Dream I Call You’, written by Tilli. Agwu drew inspiration for his project from Japanese philosophy, focusing the album on the connection between the celestial and human conscience. Musically, he mixes hip-hop and electric guitar to create a calming headspace that inspires the listener to focus and dwell on the cosmic and physical harmony.
Agwu has been working on the LP since 2023, finding inspiration from philosophy, spirituality, and artists like Andrew Pekler, Jon Hassell, Thelonious Monk, Rick Rubin, and Madlib. Agwu’s music focuses on spirituality, man’s connection with the divine, and unlocking one’s true self through self-observation and reflection.
The third track, Providence, takes the listener on a celestial journey. The song has no sudden upbeats or climax, just flowing steadily following the same note. The track starts with a low synthesiser humming and a steady guitar strum, producing a relaxing and hypnotic sound that calms the mind. Agwu’s inspiration from meditation and celestial music is evident throughout the track. The song holds a soft, uniform note and ends with the music fading in the same calm tone.
Kintsugi will be released on 11th April—stream below and pre-order HERE.
