Nomade Orquestra – O Nascimento do Sol Invencível (TS Premiere)

Once again bridging the gap between the hemispheres, Nomade Orquestra is releasing their fifth album Terceiro Mundo, which translates to “The Third World” in Portuguese. The single “O Nascimento do Sol Invencível” is one of the standout tracks on the album.

Hailing from Sao Paulo’s jazz scene, this ten piece orchestra has always been a fearless group of adventurers. Each of their records flaunts the expanse of limitless and eclectic musicality. The Brass-heavy instrumental music mixes Ethio-jazz, Indian classical, and Oriental elements in the same cauldron with Afro-Brazilian rhythms, jazz, funk, soul, and hip-hop.

Just like the whole album, “O Nascimento do Sol Invencível” ventures beyond the fence of music. It juxtaposes both old and new ideas of this collective in a cosmic musical playground. Grooves and energetic beats draw strong influences from funk and soul music. Their signature powerful brass sound is spiced up with flutes and ethnic instruments and it works like an unbreakable spell. The flowery flute solo in the first half stands as a stark contrast to the metallic solo on the Brass instrument.

This track is a kaleidoscope of timbres with long notes on Brass, funky and sharp guitar, “fat” bass, and a multitude of synth effects. It encapsulates the prime factors of their music. In every aspect, this track celebrates the journey of Nomade Orquestra till now. Its surf rock-esque funk pays warm homage to the sun and the high-spirited harmony is an expression of faith in the upcoming dawn of a new era.
