We can barely contain our excitement over some fantastic new releases we want to share with you! We just haven’t had the time to whip up a full-blown article. So, we’ve dished them out in bite-sized portions through our “Leftovers” feature. Feel free to dig in and enjoy these five enticing treats.
Baby Rose teams up with BADBADNOTGOOD for Slow Burn. Delving into the intricate links between Americana, jazz, psychedelia, and Muscle Shoals soul, this album showcases her most eclectic and opulent array of songs to date, highlighted spectacularly by ‘One Last Dance’.
Mia Garcia and Hailey Niswanger, aka OHMA, return with a beautiful self-released album. The duo describe the album as “an offering of love to Mother Earth”. The recording took place under the open skies of the Zorthian Ranch in Altadena, surrounded by mountain vistas. With a vintage Nagra IV-S reel-to-reel tape machine capturing each note, OHMA’s unique performance is accompanied by the natural symphony of the ranch’s birds and goats. OHMA warmly invites you to immerse yourself more deeply in their ode to our beautiful, loving Earth.
LA multi-instrumentalist Low Leaf has consistently evolved. After 2023’s “Microdose,” which combined free jazz, astrology, hip-hop, eco-spirituality, and geo-political sentiments, comes “Red Moon”. Releasing on 24th May via Leaving Records, this tight, three-song album captures Low Leaf at a highly dynamic stage.
Tara Jane O’Neil returns with The Cool Cloud of Okayness. O’Neil’s first album in seven years explores dislocation, grief and hope. The album features Sheridan Riley, Meg Duffy, Marisa Anderson, Walt McClements, Jody Bleyle, Twylo Lande and more.
Two historic 1969 recording sessions by Don Cherry and drummer Ed Blackwell are now assembled on this deluxe 2-CD set, which comprises the seminal albums “Mu” First Part and “Mu” Second Part.
