Cyril Cyril – Plus Rien À Faire (TS Premiere)

“Plus Rien À Faire,” is the latest sneak peek from Le Futur Ça Marche Pas, the upcoming third album by Swiss duo Cyril Cyril. The track is a whirlwind of sound that will leave you exhilarated and wanting more.

Cyril Bondi’s relentless drumming gives the song a driving, almost hypnotic energy. This foundation is unlike anything you’ve heard before, with a pulsating rhythm that feels both ancient and contemporary.

“Plus Rien À Faire” takes a dramatic turn at the last minute with a loud electronic melody and all the voices and percussion synchronising. Weaving through this rhythmic storm is Cyril Yeterian’s banjo. Instead of the expected folksy twang, effects pedals transform the banjo. It transforms into a voice that is both strangely familiar and unsettling, adding an element of intrigue to the soundscape.

The experimental music duo, which was formed in 2017, is a unique creative outlet. Cyril Yeterian (vocals, banjo) and Cyril Bondi (drums, percussion) bring a fresh perspective to their instruments. Yeterian, renowned for his work with Mama Rosin, innovatively uses effects pedals to create a distinct banjo sound. Bondi, a veteran of the Swiss experimental scene with projects such as Plaistow and Insub Meta Orchestra, establishes a solid rhythmic foundation.

Their music is a fascinating clash of East and West, combining genres such as post-punk, garage funk, and even noise to create a raw and thought-provoking soundscape. Cyril Cyril’s lyrically charged songs address social issues and political commentary with a healthy dose of artistic license, inviting listeners to engage in thoughtful reflection.

Look out for the album when it drops via Bongo Joe Records this Friday.
