The amazing vocalist and formidable artist Amirtha Kidambi has loudly made public the upcoming release of her new Elder Ones album. Entitled New Monuments, it will enliven our day when it lands on March 15th, thanks to We Jazz Records.
The talented musician, educator, and activist from NYC is back with a fresh ensemble for her fiery protest group, Elder Ones. This version features the brilliant Matt Nelson on saxophone, Lester St. Louis showing his skills on the cello, the fantastic Eva Lawitts on bass, and the dynamic drummer Jason Nazary.
Crafting a sound that’s known for its daring compositions, dynamic improvisation, and stirring bellows, Kidambi’s goal is to extend the limits of what a jazz ensemble can do.

‘New Monuments’ summons the “tearing down of old colonial and racist monuments and vestiges of power… in order to build new ones to the martyrs of struggle”.
Kidambi is treating us to an epic sneak peek into her new album with the stunning three-part opener ‘Third Space’. Infused with raw creativity, alluring free-flowing jazz grooves and Kidambi’s deep-rooted passion for activism through music that one can sense through every note, the track promises a righteous journey through what the album has in store.
