In a few days, the talented composer E. Lundquist, based in LA, is all set to release his new album, “Art Between Minds,” to the world. So far, our appetites have been whetted by three marvellous teasers: ‘Between Minds,’ ‘My Sun’, and ‘Soliloquy’. These sneak peeks have left us itching for the whole album to drop! As we near release day, we’re thrilled to premiere one of the standout cuts entitled ‘Persuasive’.
From the first note of “Persuasive,” the music transported me back to the golden era of jazz-funk. The vintage organs and keyboards set the stage for what was to come – a masterful blend of old and new sounds that left me feeling utterly mesmerised. As the track progressed, our ears warmed to the addition of crisp synthesisers and sharp, powerful drumming. Combining these elements gave the song an edge, reflecting the modern, urban vibe of the music.
Initially, I was expecting a slow, mysterious jazz tune. The bass arrangements complement the drum beats with a simple 4/4 time signature but astonishingly beautiful melody. However, the track suddenly hits its stride around 1:50 minutes, when the electric guitar joins the mix. The lead guitar perfectly complements the entire arrangement and adds layers as the song progresses. What was at first a mellow jazz track became an eclectic mix of different instrumentals that meshed together seamlessly. At every turn, new instrumentals kept enriching the atmosphere and bringing new life to the song.
The track brilliantly blends vintage and modern sounds. It starts slowly but gradually builds up, keeping listeners engaged and anticipating what’s coming next. I love the inventive blend of digital and analogue elements, contributing to Lundquist’s reputation as a torchbearer for the jazz-funk genre. This track stands out as a refreshing and unique musical experience, and I highly recommend that you spread the word far and wide! Now, all we have to do is wait till Friday to experience what wonder will be revealed in the album “Art Between Minds.”
