Paris-based pianist and composer Richard Sears has an album on the way following his 2020 project Disquiet. Entitled Appear to Fade, it arrives on 29th September through Figureight Records. A beautiful recording, Appear To Fade is a deep collaboration with producer Ari Chersky, who processed Sears’ improvisations into tape loops and then collaged them with one another. Similar to his 2020 release, Sears explores the sonic possibilities of the Una Corda, a one-string-per-note design that gives the instrument a distinctive sound.

Alongside the album announcement, Sears has released the first single ‘Manresa’. Here’s what the press release says:
‘Manresa’ echoes Richard’s upbringing near the Northern California Santa Cruz coastline, evoking a sense of nostalgia and a deep connection to the natural world.
Getting sucked into this track and floating away is easy. Moments of improvisational textures punctuate this track drifting in and out of modal piano harmonies. Fans of Nils Fram, William Basinski, Kali Malone, and Sam Wilkes will love this.
