Manchester-based trumpeter, bandleader, composer, producer and founder of independent label Gondwana Records, Matthew Halsall, is set to release his ninth album, An Ever Changing View, on September 8th. He will also be playing his biggest headline show to date at The Royal Albert Hall on September 21st. The album, which follows his critically acclaimed 2020 release โ€˜Salute to the Sun’, is set to be his most ambitious yet. As a preview, Halsall released the second celestial single, โ€˜Calder Shapesโ€™.

The new song is dedicated to American sculptor Alexander Calder. โ€œIโ€™ve always loved his workโ€, Halsall notes, โ€œand in particular how it is in harmony with nature and space.โ€ Daniel Halsall directed the accompanying performance video. Take a look at it above.

Tickets for his Royal Albert Hall show are on sale now.

An Ever Changing View finds him at his most experimental yet, once again expanding his sound and production techniques to create his unique brand of deeply meditative music.
