Manchester-based trumpeter, bandleader, composer, producer and founder of independent label Gondwana Records, Matthew Halsall, is set to release his ninth album, An Ever Changing View, on September 8th. He will also be playing his biggest headline show to date at The Royal Albert Hall on September 21st. The album, which follows his critically acclaimed 2020 release ‘Salute to the Sun’, is set to be his most ambitious yet. As a preview, Halsall released the second celestial single, ‘Calder Shapes’.
The new song is dedicated to American sculptor Alexander Calder. “I’ve always loved his work”, Halsall notes, “and in particular how it is in harmony with nature and space.” Daniel Halsall directed the accompanying performance video. Take a look at it above.
Tickets for his Royal Albert Hall show are on sale now.
