Drummer and composer Tommaso Cappellato unveils dance-oriented LP, Dancing Around Fire

LA-based drummer and composer Tommaso Cappellato brings the two together with stunning results on his new album for the artistic collective Pavimento Fertile.

Dancing Around Fire‘ features a mix of cosmic soul and timeless funky grooves that celebrate the culture of drum breaks and sampling. The album’s seven tracks were composed in as many days, taking the listener straight to the dance floor. It features soulful vocals from Lalin St. Juste and Cameron Kinghorn, musicians like Michael Blake, Andrea Lombardini, and DJ Stepmom. The collaboration between dancer and musician came about through Cappellato’s live performance at the Pavimento Fertile dance jam in 2021, which inspired the commission of an album of original music.
