Blinker and Moses are again back with their enigmatic vibe to excite us with their innovative instrumental music. The sax and drum duo, along with Simon Ratcliffe of Basement Jaxx, together known as Village of the Sun, share their debut album First Light.

Although they have come together in collaboration in the album, you sense an individuality in their music but together, they form a mesmerising experience for the listeners. Ratcliffe brings electronic beats and dreamy ambient textures to Golding and Boyd’s improvised interplay, creating something atmospheric and danceable. Speaking about the collaboration, Ratcliffe said that he resonates with improvised instrumental music more than traditional songs with words.
Once again, Blinker and Moses leave us speechless, with their heady improvisation setting the mood just right. In contrast, Simon takes inspiration from legends such as Brazilian jazz drummer and percussionist Airto Moreira and iconic house/garage production and remix team Masters at Work. All six songs of the album stood out and gave the listeners all they needed with this collaboration.
Among our highlights are ‘Cesca’, ‘Tigris’, and ‘Ted’ – three rare, effortless gems that fit perfectly in any setting, no matter when or where gorgeous electronic jazz with a Balearic touch.
While speaking about the album, Binker said, “this is the future of life”, and we couldn’t agree more.
