I have been meaning to check out Silvan Strauss for a little while. As with most music that drops in my inbox these days, I never got around to it due to a lack of time.

Luckily Duncan at Ballantyne Communications got in touch again to share his forthcoming debut album ‘Facing’, due in November via Kabul Fire Records. He was sure I’d love it; guess what, it’s fantastic. So props where props are due.

A recent highlight for Strauss was his performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival and his win at the Hamburg Jazz Award, which rewards individuals who significantly contribute to the Hamburg jazz scene for their outstanding skills.
