After many years of recognition for his work with EABS, Błoto, Night Marks and Jaubi, versatile musician and artist Marek Pędziwiatr will release his first solo album.
Renowned as Poland’s greatest synth virtuoso, he decided to reveal himself to listeners in a completely new way. Under the pseudonym Latarnik, Marek presents his debut album, Marianna, focusing on the piano without any additional instrumentation. The album will drop on March 29th, which coincidently is Piano Day.
With his great-grandmother (who adorns the artwork) as an inspiration, he recorded the album intimately using a hundred-year-old Steinway & Sons grand piano and analogue tape. Jazz legends Thelonious Monk, Ahmad Jamal, McCoy Tyner, and Ethiopian pianist and composer Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou have influenced the sound of this project.
All nine tracks were recorded last November at Radio Opole’s Studio M.
