Hush Hush Records recently announced a bold new exploration within their cinematic, atmospheric, and genre-free sonic universe with Open, a collaborative album between veteran Finnish musicians Tapani Rinne and Juha Mäki-Patola. An organic melding of each musician’s distinctive style that yields their own unique shared language, Open reveals a cohesive meditative thread through ambient, jazz, and neo-classical music, paving the way for a refreshingly cool and sophisticated Nordic sound. Below you can stream a new track titled ‘Fall’ which follows the previously released single ‘Open Part 1’. The duo serves up a more restrained yet no less captivating sound. Speaking about the track, Juha explains: Tapani sent over a beautiful bass clarinet theme that ended up on “Fall” as we were in the middle of writing our album. This was right when Helsinki’s long winter was starting to transition and fall into the lightness of spring. The music he sent me for “Fall” resonated deeply with me on an emotional level, and when I recorded some atmospheric synth layers and piano to add to the piece, it felt like a turning point for both the album and our upcoming days, now that we were emerging out of the darkness of the winter. ” Check out the track, and look forward to their collaborative new album out in March!

Open will be released on 11th March on digital, CD and cassette tape.
