Theon Cross is releasing his new album, ‘Intra-I’, on 29th October via Marathon Records.
Cross’ pioneering approach to this record reimagines the possibilities of the tuba’s sound with this uplifting celebration of Black music. Across the album, you’ll hear Afro-Caribbean diasporic sounds mesh with jazz in this young virtuoso, mixing dub, hip-hop, soca, and grime.
The new LP features contributions from Remi Graves, Shumba Maasai, Afronaut Zu, Ahnansé, Consensus and Oren Marshall. Moreover, the project is also the first in his career to feature guest vocals, adding yet another fresh dimension.
An ode to his father, the latest nibble from the album ‘Forward Progression II’, tips its hat to reggae and Jamaican sound systems, which that inform much of the music Cross and others are making today.
