Awen Ensemble – Zorny (TS Premiere)

Meet Awen Ensemble , an emerging collective from the Leeds jazz scene.

The vibrant six-piece outfit has revealed ‘Zorny’, the first single in a trilogy of tracks recorded live at The Green Room, Leeds.

The Leeds-based band consist of Emyr Dance (trumpet), Saul Duff (tenor saxophone), Samantha Binotti (vibraphone), Ruari Graham (guitar), Joe Wilkes (bass), and Eddie Bowes (drums).

Throughout the band’s music, they showcase an eclectic blend of world folk colours, and lush modal harmony, with groove and melodic focus at its core.

The Eastern European harmony, Brazilian melodies, and West African grooves found in ‘Zorny’ create a dynamic track with a fiery solo performed by Saul Duff as the cherry on top.

We can’t wait to hear their next step, but for now, listen to the premiere of ‘Zorny’ above and check out a live session of the track below.
