Dave De Rose & Dan Nicholls – arts of living (TS Premiere)

Now, this is a bit special! In this psychedelic-trip-shaped LP, long-time collaborators Dave De Rose and Dan Nicholls (Agile Experiments / Free Movements / Vula Viel) channel their love for ambient and electronic music.

Plants Heal was created by the duo over two days, during which they spent the time immersing themselves in sound spontaneously and without any frame of reference and capturing every step as they explored improvisational electronic sounds.

“Patience is a real virtue, I always wish I waited more, I played less and listened twice as much when performing. Obviously we want to play, but making music and certainly improvising music, requires more self-discipline than what we ‘want’. Life does! When you don’t play your surroundings develop alone; it’s like, when you go for a walk into a forest, the birds and animals call-out warnings but if you stop and sit peacefully their natural world eventually returns to normal. Then you can start to observe how life really is there. We actually removed almost 50% of the sounds we’d recorded from the original take. This gave us a chance to really focus on the fundamentals, creating this spacious and welcoming first track.” Dave De Rose

It is our pleasure to premiere the LP’s opening track, ‘arts of living’, an ideal companion to the heavy rain showers and chilly days in London at the moment. Allow the rain sounds, rumbling subs, wooden shells, sticks, cymbals and echoing free-fall drums to fill your aural senses.
