I received L’Éclair‘s latest track, which is included on their upcoming album that will be released in November, a few days ago and have been playing it constantly since then.
The Swiss instrumental six-piece new full length titled ‘Confusions’ mixes shape-shifting psych-funk, club-friendly beats, fourth world, and new-age minimalism.
The frenetic energy resembles the sound of a CAN live show on the lead cut, P+R, which also recalls the New York sound of Liquid Liquid.
With previous albums relying on two or three sessions in as many days, ‘Confusions’ departs from tradition. This resulted from the band involuntarily pausing their hectic touring schedule during the pandemic and recording at their home studio.
“It was always a fantasy of ours to make a really long record. Lockdown gave us the time to digest what we had been listening to, new influences, the countries we had visited etc. We wanted to recreate the same euphoria and feelings of sharing music with people at shows but in a more contemplative way”
