Following the recent release of several new tracks, DJ, musician, writer and label owner, Chris Menist aka Awkward Corners, delivers a sublime guest mix.
Last year Menist shared his fantastic album ‘Dislocation Songs’, and he builds on foundations of the meditative, devotional electronic aspects of the LP with his forthcoming full-length ‘Amateur Dramatics’.
The nine-song collection features Tamar Osborn on four tracks, with Kitty Whitelaw providing vocals and David Leahy on double bass.

For his exclusive Twistedsoul mix, he’s put together a quality selection of tracks that he was vibing to while creating his new album. The mix takes in a broad spectrum of music that includes Romeo Poirier, The Fall, Yusef Lateef, Outkast, Ana Roxanne and many more gems.
So without further ado, over to Menist…
“Musical influences are hard to pin down. Musicians rarely sit down and consciously try and copy or recreate someone else’s art, but the sounds and ideas we surround ourselves with always permeate what we do one way or the other, often in ways we don’t expect.
Below is a mix, done live with just two turntables and a mixer, in one take with no edits, of the type of vibes and noises that I was checking during the making of Amateur Dramatics. It’s been another strange year, and the selections below loosely form a diary of sorts. Hearing them takes me back to the time before, during and after the creation of my second full length LP as Awkward Corners. Hope you enjoy.”
