Following the recent release of their self-titled debut LP, Coma World steps up with a guest mix.
The 16-track album – released through Byrd Out takes its inspiration from a friend’s recollections of being in a coma. The duo of Maxwell Hallett, a.k.a. Betamax (The Comet Is Coming/Soccer96) and Pete Bennie (Speaker’s Corner Quartet), delve through the mysteries of consciousness and return with a striking array of colourful sound artefacts.
The album opens with ‘Wipe And Erase’, the perfect introduction, a frantic barrage of white noise. From thereon, the EP flits eclectically between the smoky, psychedelic haze of ‘Cream Submarine’ to the spacey ambience of ‘Wild Colours’ and the percussive heavy woozy jazz of ‘No Focus’.
Bennie stretches his fingers and delves deep into his eclectic taste for a guest mix, spanning both new and old tracks from artist like Nils Frahm, Carl Gari & Abdullah Miniawy, Danalogue & Alabaster Deplume, to name a few.
Press play and feast your ears on some deeply immersive electronics, dark ambient soundscapes and intriguing grooves. Turn it up!
