Guest Playlist: Amanda Whiting

Guest Playlist: Amanda Whiting.

Amanda Whiting is a harpist of the highest order.

We only recently become aware of her immense talents when she serenaded our ears with the sounds of the Little Sunflower EP. Although she might be new to us, Whiting has toured extensively with Twistedsoul fave Matthew Halsall and collaborated with DJ Yoda and Chip Wickham.

Exploring a variety of jazz standards, the EP moves effortlessly between the warm, easy-going, smooth vibes of ‘In A Sentimental Mood’ to the title track’s sweet swing and the high energy tempo of ‘Caravan’.

Whiting’s engaging and uplifting harp melodies weave the EP’s various influences and inspirations together, with help from Deej Williams (bass) and Tony Robinson (drums).

For her guest playlist, Whiting has carefully curated a lovely selection of tracks that reflect her inspirations and influences as a harpist, with gorgeous songs by Dorothy Ashby, Alice Coltrane, Brandee Younger, Carol Robbins and more.

Enjoy the playlist below and watch out for a new album early in 2021!

Little Sunflower is out now via Jazzman Records.
