Introducing Finnish multi-instrumentalist Pentti Orionen aka Antti Vauhkonen (performing here as Oiro Pena). With a sound that is warm and organic, hopscotching effortlessly from spiritual jazz, folk with a samba cadence.

The nine compositions featured on ‘Music From Moments’ are a selection of the first solo recordings that he released initially in digital format on his Häzling Recordings imprint in 2018.

If you’re a fan of astral travels once taken by Sun Ra and Moondog, you’ll love his lo-fi cosmic sound. Which features looping pianos, overdubbing, drums, wind instruments, percussions and is full of attitude and confidence. Pena is certainly someone that you should be keeping an eye on.

Tracks such as ‘Sambahetki’ come out swinging with Latin flair with its wandering flute melody and rhythmic drum beat. In contrast, the meditative ‘Rakastunut’ is a gentle and somewhat wistful track which shows off Pena’s entrancing vocal. We’re absolutely in love with the  relaxed groove and easy going swing of ‘Jonain Yönä’. The neck-snapping guitar patterns, trippy wood-flute and percussive soundscapes on this track is pure joy!
